LOGISTICS

What is logistics?

For me logistics is the set of means and methods that allow carry out the organization of a business or service. Business logistics involves a certain order in the processes involving the production and marketing of goods.

Main Objectives and importance
The fundamental mission of the business logistics is to place the right products in the right place at the right time and in the desired conditions, contributing as much as possible to profitability.

The Logistics has as objective the satisfaction of demand in the best conditions of service, cost and quality. It is responsible for the management of the necessary means to achieve this goal (surfaces, means of transport, information technology) and mobilizes both the human resources as well as the financial resources that are appropriate.

Ensuring quality of service, that is to say the conformity with customer requirements. To do so at a lower cost which improves the financial margin of the company. Get it to ensuring security, also communicate on current themes such as respect for the ambient, ethical products, etc. These three parameters are used to explain the strategic character of the logistics function in many companies.

ACTIVITIES
The key activities are as follow:
  • Service to the costumer 
  • Order processing
  • Transport
  • Inventory management 


Together these activities will achieve costumer satisfaction and the company cost reduction, wich is one of the factors by wich companies are required to focus on logistics.

FUNCTIONS 
THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE LOGISTICS ARE: 
  • Shopping: related to inputs, goods, etc. 
  • Storage: safety, care inputs and products finished, semi-finished, etc. 
  • Management of inventory: forecasting, storage costs, strategies. 
  • Distribution: ensure that the products reach our customers. 



THE INVERSE LOGISTICS 
To define inverse logistics it is necessary to remember the meaning of logistics, since practically it is the same, only than of inverse form. 

Logistics: process design, implement and control a flow of raw material, inventory in process, finished goods and related information from point of origin to the point of consumption of an efficient and cheapest possible in order to comply with the requirements of the end customer.

Inverse logistics: The inverse logistics helps to preserve the environment by means of recycling of materials that put in danger the terrestrial ecosystems.

Causes that generate the need for a reverse logistics:
  • Goods in the faulted state 
  • Return of excess inventory 
  • Returns of customers 
  • Obsolete Products 
  • Inventories seasonal 

Activities of the reverse logistics:
  • Withdrawal of goods 
  • Classification of Goods 
  • Reconditioning of products 
  • Return to Origins 
  • Destruction 
  • Administrative Processes 
  • Recovery and recycling of packaging and packaging and hazardous waste

Logistics is an effective tool in several aspects, which can produce competitive advantages, such as achieving an optimization in the production, in the provision of goods and services for the operation. And achieve the full satisfaction of its customers.
